the organ in the church. there were like 4-5 different organs. the acoustics of the place ain't so great but when they play all the organs at once, it's so.. GRAND. could not use my flash so someof the photos will come out blurry. bear with me. it's such a pretty church!
the whole church is filled with marble. and portraits of saints and all that. they have marble "paintings" on the floor depicting some philosophical beliefs. they mixed philosophy with religion then. interesting :)
ahh sorry for the blurness. but it was a very very beautiful picture. it's angels looking down on men. trying to communicate something. i can't remember what. crap.
sculptures of the heads of some saints and some philosophers. aristotle, plato and socrates were the few philosophers that were written about and recognised by the church.
the top of the main duomo. there are no lights inside and they had little windows that will allow streams of light in. mirrors are placed at strategic positions thus lighting up the place. it's kinda like what they depicted in the movie, "the mummy".

their favourite animal. the boar. no idea why though. and the head is supposed to signify honour. in those times, they used to cut up the animal and looked at the position of the entrails to foretell the future. eewww.
sienna's duomo. it was competing with florence. dumos are a sign of rich culture and there was great rivalry between the different states.
hahaha. a funny sight. that's the front of the duomo. whenever they do restoration works they will put up a picture of the duomo to compensate. it's really pretty inside!

the main piazza. this is where they hold the horse races every year. they would race the horses without saddles and race around the city. people fall off the horses. tons of corruption. lots of physical injuries from battering each other off the horses. tsk. italians and their indulgences.
